iceland part i

the second week of the new year my mom and i travelled to iceland for a week. My mom was going to attend a geological conference, and i came with. i was just so happy to finally visit iceland! it was amazing, despite short days and storm and snow and rain and heavy clouds. it was still as incredible as i had imagined it, and it made me want to visit again so i could see it all without snow as well!

these photos are from our first day in iceland, where we took a tour down the south shore, past the volcanoes Eyjafallajökull and Katla and down to the small town of Vík. as you can see the weather didn't change much, only the light.

part of eyjafjallajökull.
Reynisdrangar lost in the low clouds
black beaches around vík
a graveyard where the graves were decorated with lights.

  6. wow, its so eerie! those people who live in those buildings, in that tiny village at the foot of the volcano, are so inspiring as well. is that the volcano that erupted last year?
